Joyce Fu grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She went to Dartmouth College, double majoring in sociology and studio art. She went on to attend law school, and received her JD from Columbia Law School in 2006. Joyce's photographs focus on the human figure or on the anthropomorphic qualities of objects and landscapes. She is not only interested in images that are captured by a camera, but also in the process of taking each image. It is important to Joyce to form a relationship with her subjects; to learn about their lives- their struggles, dreams and/or hopes.
